BRYN MAWR, PA (PRWEB) July 9, 2004 -- The American College announced the appointment of Carlos Medrano as Associate Vice President for Information Systems. In his new post, Medrano will be responsible for providing leadership, strategic planning, and coordination of information technology and telecommunications for The American College.

Medrano will be responsible for all operations associated with the present information system. In addition, he will oversee the development and implementation of a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Customer Relations Management (CRM) solution to support both academic and administrative operations. This initiative known as the Link Project is dedicated to building and implementing a new computer platform within eighteen months. Software solutions from PeopleSoft will serve as the foundation for the new platform.

As the gold standard in financial service education, The American College must have an operating environment in which our systems add to our competitive advantage in the marketplace. An ERP/CRM solution will align information system resources with our corporate strategy. This is vital to the success of the college as we move forward," said Medrano.

Expected to be a single, integrated solution with real-time transactions and customer service functionality, this solution will run on state-of-the-art business technology and provide proven, modern tools. The EPR/CRM solution will increase the quality of the colleges customer service by eliminating redundancy, reducing maintenance and supporting costs.

Carlos brings a wealth of experience to The American College," said Larry Barton, PhD, President and Chief Executive Officer of The American College. Our eighteen month implementation schedule is an aggressive timeframe, but Carlos past experience in achieving similar goals makes him the ideal person to lead this information technology initiative."

Before joining The American College, Medrano most recently served as manager of the information services and application development units at Heald College. Medrano has a Bachelors Degree in International Relations from the University of Southern California.
