Burnsville (MN) Event to Attempt World Record Fire Truck Parade

On September 11 this year, a new world record will be attempted for the longest fire truck parade. The 25th annual Burnsville Fire Muster will host fire trucks from across the USA to help set this world record.

Burnsville, MN (PRWEB) July 8, 2004 -- One of Minnesotas oldest community celebrations will attempt to set a world record this fall when they line up fire trucks from across the nation to participate in the 25th annual Fire Muster fire truck parade. Fire trucks and fire fighters from across the state and across the nation will participate in this event.

Weve always had a large parade of fire trucks" said Penny Johnson, Publicity Chair for the all-volunteer, nonprofit group that coordinates the Fire Muster each year. But this year we wanted to make it really, really big so we decided to go for the worlds record" she added.

The Burnsville Fire Muster is an annual community celebration that features music, food, fireworks, games and of course, fire trucks. Last year event organizers estimated more than 75 of the big red vehicles participated. This year they expect even more.

25 years ago a couple guys who liked fire trucks basically said lets have a parade" commented Charlie Crichton, this years Chair of the Fire Muster Executive Committee. And every year since then the event has gotten bigger and better as we add more activities and fun things for people to do."

Because this year is the 25th anniversary of the Fire Muster, event organizers decided to commemorate it by attempting to set the world record for fire truck parades. And theyre not taking this challenge lightly. Volunteers have submitted an official request to the world-record arbiters, the Guinness World Records organization in London to make sure their attempt is duly recorded.

To set the new world record, event volunteers are inviting people from all over the country to participate.

Some trucks will come from active fire departments and others will be owned and driven by fire truck collectors and aficionados.

Anyone who has an interest in fire trucks is invited to join the parade" said Johnson. We expect most will come from Minnesota and the five-state area but weve had interest from all parts of the country. If you have a fire truck and you want to participate, come on down. Well make room for you."

In addition to the fire truck parade, this years Fire Muster will feature a 9/11 tribute with (an estimated) 400 fire fighters and other uniformed service members singing God Bless America". Event organizers estimate this will be the largest 9/11 tribute in the Upper Midwest.
