Regional information sharing at the first responder level
InterAct Public Safety Systems is proud to announce the successful deployment of the Mississippi Automated System Project (ASP), a multi-jurisdictional data-sharing project that links law enforcement and public safety databases into a single, centralized data information sharing system.
Asheville, NC (PRWEB) July 9, 2004 -- A three county initiative in Mississippis I-10 corridor is helping to tackle the major challenge facing law enforcement and emergency agencies today...data sharing.
InterAct Public Safety Systems is proud to announce the successful deployment of the Mississippi Automated System Project (ASP), a multi-jurisdictional data-sharing project that links law enforcement and public safety databases into a single, centralized data information sharing system.
At a press conference held June 30, 2004 at the University of Southern Mississippi Gulfport Campus in Long Beach, MS, US Senator Thad Cochran (R-MS) joined a number of local law enforcement and ASP officials to mark the launch of the initiative designed to enhance data information sharing among all local first responders (law enforcement, fire and emergency medical services).
The Automated System Project connects the three sheriffs, 10 police and 15 fire departments as well as the two EMS providers in Hancock, Harrison and Jackson counties. All public safety data (arrest warrants, criminal intelligence, mug shots, hazmat and medical emergency protocols) is now available to each jurisdiction, enhancing the first responders abilities to prevent and/or respond to incidents posing danger to the public.
This is an example of a system that works," said Senator Cochran. It should serve as a model for other law enforcement agencies in the region and across the US."
The Automated System Project allows these three counties to house its main database (CAD, RMS, Fire Management System and Mobile) and within a single geographic location. This allows InterAct to accelerate system deployment, offer cost-savings and provide an easier mechanism for support and administrative control, all of which are critical features of any Public Safety System.
ASP is also the proving grounds for InterActs innovative new IPSP suite. The InterAct Public Safety Portal is a revolutionary new tool that offers unparalleled data sharing capabilities to any public safety organization regardless of jurisdiction or agency type. The participating agencies in this project can access and view data in a single Department of Justice-compliant format. Data, that was once inaccessible due to jurisdictional boundaries or non-compatible formats, is now at the fingertips of those who need it most.
Additionally, IPSP offers a fully functioning wireless data access module, permitting law enforcement and fire/rescue personnel in the field to request and receive information on laptops in their patrol cars and ambulances.
The ASP project is projected to have 28 agencies within the three counties operational by late October 2004. Since the initial deployment, two other counties in Mississippi have come on-board.
