His abstract paintings illustrate how the effective use of simple symbiotic patterns can be just as gripping as traditional portraits. Former President Bill Clinton has an original in is his collection that was presented to him during a trip to Minneapolis in June of 2000. McNulty examined the perspective of aerial views for Neography, which added to his use of textures to simulate a relief map. He used pumice stone, sand, sticks, wood, cardboard, string, and many layers of acrylic to achieve this thick texture which simulates mountains and valleys.
