C.H.E.F. ® Receives Funding from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Recognized as National Leader in Middle School Health and Prevention Education.

Comprehensive Health Education Foundation (C.H.E.F. ®), one of the nations leading health and prevention education organizations, announced today that it will receive funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Division of Adolescent School Health. Awarded to C.H.E.F. in collaboration with the National Middle School Association, the funding will allow for the continuation and expansion of middle-level school HIV / AIDS Prevention and Coordinated Health Programs. Under the terms of the cooperative agreement, C.H.E.F.s program will be funded by the CDC for up to two years, at $250,000 per year, which represents 92% of the total program budget.

SEATTLE, WA (PRWEB) July 9, 2004 -- Comprehensive Health Education Foundation (C.H.E.F. ®), one of the nations leading health and prevention education organizations, announced today that it will receive funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Division of Adolescent School Health. Awarded to C.H.E.F. in collaboration with the National Middle School Association, the funding will allow for the continuation and expansion of middle-level school HIV / AIDS Prevention and Coordinated Health Programs. The goal of the Middle Level AIDS Prevention and Coordinated Health Programs is to improve the health of young adolescents by enhancing and supporting the development of coordinated school health programs addressing HIV / AIDS prevention in middle level schools across the country" said Lori Stern, School-Aged Youth Director at C.H.E.F. Once the program is implemented, middle school professionals will attend conferences in Massachusetts, Florida and California in which they will develop an action plan to implement their learning, receive technical assistance and follow-up from C.H.E.F. and the National Middle School Association for one year, and attend a follow-up workshop within six months of the initial conference for additional information and support of their plan."

This is the fourth award in ten years that C.H.E.F. has received from the CDC in recognition of its work in middle schools.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Division of Adolescent and School Health (www.cdc.gov) provides funding to national organizations with the capacity and experience to assist state and local education agencies, institutions of higher education, and other relevant agencies in preventing behaviors that place young people at risk for HIV infection, STDs, and other important health problems.
