Cineville Acquires Oscar-Winning Film, "Two Soldiers."

Cineville has acquired all North American rights to Aaron Schneider's war drama "Two Soldiers," which was recently honored at this year's Academy Awards with the 2004 Oscar® for best live action short film.

Santa Monica, CA (PRWEB) July 9, 2004 -- Santa Monica based distributor Cineville has acquired all North American rights to Aaron Schneider's war drama "Two Soldiers," which was recently honored at this year's Academy Awards with the 2004 Oscar® for best live action short film. The deal was negotiated by Cineville's President, Carl Colpaert, partner, Lee Caplin and the film's producer Aaron Schneider 'Shoe Clerk Picture Company' through Colden, McKuin & Frankel LLP. "Cineville is honored and pleased to represent "Two Soldiers," Caplin explains, who also represents the Faulkner Literary Estate. This release is the first of several high profile Faulkner films now in the works.

Based on the short story by William Faulkner, "Two Soldiers" is the story of two otherwise inseparable brothers pulled apart by war. Set on the eve of America's involvement in WWII, Faulkner's story of love, loyalty and duty resonates as meaningfully today as it did in 1942 when it was originally published in the Saturday Evening Post. "Two Soldiers" and its heroic protagonists are Faulkner's loving homage to those who would sacrifice their lives and family ties for the freedoms that America enjoys today.

The film introduces child-actor Jonathan Furr and stars Ben Allison, Ron Perlman, and David Andrews with appearances by Mike Pniewski, Deacon Dawson and Joanne Pankow.

The DVD release of "Two Soldiers" will mark the second title release under Cineville's Home Entertainment division, following the success of "The Affair," which was released earlier this year. Cineville's Acquisitions Director, Roy Thomasson is collaborating with Aaron Schneider on the DVD and is expected to include the entire 39-minute feature, with additional bonus material, including running audio commentary from the filmmakers, behind-the-scenes featurette, photo gallery and electronic versions of the original Faulkner's short story and film's screenplay. "This DVD contains dramatic elements for mainstream audiences as well as educational materials for our scholastic audiences," explains Thomasson.

"Two Soldiers" is tentatively scheduled to be released on September 21, 2004. Visit the official site of the film, www.twosoldiers.com for updates on the forthcoming DVD, other exhibitions and special screenings, and also news on the release of the film's original score by Oscar® nominated composer, Alan Silvestri.
