Optram and Ernest T. Selig, Inc. Merge Key Personnel
The combined teams of Optram and Ernest T. Selig, Inc.have merged to provide a comprehensive solution to meet the growing rail maintenance-of-way needs.
MAYNARD, MA (PRWEB) July 11, 2004 -- Optram, Inc,, the leading provider of maintenance-of-way management solutions for the rail industry, and Ernest T. Selig, Inc. (ETSI), located in Hadley, Mass., the leading provider of railway track substructure and geotechnical engineering services, announced today the formal integration of the staffs of the two companies.
The resulting team, which will operate under the Optram brand, provides a more comprehensive maintenance-of-way management solution to customers in freight, transit, short-line, and commuter rail.
Optram was founded by Ted Selig, and ETSI was founded by Dr. Ernest T. Selig. The two firms have long shared a common mission to help rail and transit organizations improve the management of rail service, safety and reliability, while reducing maintenance occupancy and costs.
The two companies provide highly complementary approaches to this common mission: Optram's focus on the management of railway information and ETSI's focus on the development of the technology for the track substructure maintenance of geophysical assets below the corridor surface. Ted Selig will continue his role as president and C.E.O. of Optram, Inc. Ernest Selig will continue his role as senior director of technical applications and chairman of the board. The combined companies will continue to operate at both the Hadley and Maynard Massachusetts offices.
Optram and ETSI have established leadership positions in their fields, and recognize that an integrated maintenance planning approach utilizing best practices for all the assets above and below the rail corridor surface has significant customer benefit.
ETSI has over 30 years of experience in the fundamentals of railway engineering, and is recognized around the world as experts in railway substructure. We plan to accelerate the incorporation of this knowledge into Optram's technology to ultimately deliver the best value to our customers. The merged team will allow us to be more effective at our mission of making railways safer, more reliable, and more cost efficient," said Ted Selig.
Correlating historical work records, track condition and traffic with track features and maintenance planning is critical to effectively deploying maintenance funds for a railroad," said Ernest Selig. The combination of the Optram and ETSI expertise gives us a unique advantage in accomplishing this goal."
Optram's flagship product, ORIM System 7(tm) (Optram Railway Infrastructure Management) is a patented software solution that provides rail operators with a proven approach to enhance operating levels of safety and reliability while reducing maintenance occupancy and cost. ORIM enables railway operators to transition their maintenance practices from a generalized, reactive approach to a highly targeted, pro-active maintenance-planning model.
