MIC-O-MIC AMERICAS INC. wins FIVE Awards in Dr. TOYS BEST VACATION CHILDREN'S PRODUCTS FOR 2004" Contest.

Mic-O-Mic Americas Inc., located in the beautiful, Spanish moss draped city of Savannah, Georgia, submitted five toys, the maximum number allowed under the Contest rules, for consideration by Dr. Toy for her Best Vacation Children's Products. Mic-O-Mic won FIVE OUT OF FIVE Awards!

Mic-O-Mic Americas had decided that these toys, newly introduced to North America, needed recognition from toy experts in North America if they were to quickly capture the attention of people and delight the imaginations of kids and adults alike. Hence the decision to enter Dr. Toys competition.

Dr. Toy (real name, Stevanne Auerbach - her website, www.drtoy.com, is very informative on all sorts of aspects of play, toys and games) is one of the worlds foremost experts on toys, games, etc. and has published a number of books and articles on the subject, besides being a frequent broadcaster on these subjects. She writes of Mic-O-Mic toys, These products feel good and have excellent colors. The toys are made from high quality plastics and are unbreakable [.... This is an open-ended play experience. Instructions for each of the projects are included that will help your child to develop their own fine motor and cognitive skills. They can do the project alone, with an adult or with friends."

Mic-O-Mic Americas first introduced their range of toys to North America in late February of 2004, although they have been available in other parts of the world for nearly 20 years where they have won a number of international design awards.

Mic-O-Mic Americas Inc. was formed in February, 2004 by Tony Cross and Debbie Addy. Debbie is a Speech and Language Therapist working with children and the speech challenged to improve and enhance their speech, swallowing and language skills. Tony had been a Lloyds Insurance Broker in London for over thirty years. He retired after the Loyds problems of the early 90s and moved to the United States and started a safety company preventing kids fingers from being amputated in doors. He retired from that in September, 2003, although he remains a substantial stockholder. After about three months of watching the grass grow, he became extremely bored and looked for new opportunities.

He recalled having bought some Mic-O-Mic toys nine or ten years previously, in the UK. He liked them so very much that he decided to contact Klaus Micklitz, the designer, in Germany to see if they would be interested in selling in North America. The rest is history, albeit so far a short history of just six months. They granted Mic-O-Mic Americas the exclusive Distributorship for the USA, Canada and the Caribbean plus first Option for Central and South America. Mic-O-Mic Americas also sell worldwide, but not on an exclusive basis.

These construction toys are designed and manufactured in Germany. They are made of the highest European quality plastics and are nontoxic and extremely durable (the company knows of at least one person who has had one of the toys for eighteen years - it survived three children playing with it over the years).

The assembly method is patented and employs plugs and flexible clips. These are so well engineered that the plugs are almost impossible to remove without the use of a patented plug extractor, one of which is supplied with every toy. Also, there are no written assembly instructions, just a few pictures to show how the toys should look at various stages of construction. This helps develop cognitive and fine motor skills. The larger, more complex toys may require help or advice from adults or friends, thereby developing interpersonal skills. The colors are wonderful! Mic-O-Mic Americas website, www.micamericas.com, shows the models and colors with immense accuracy.

The toys are starting to sell well and have already been ordered by one of the top names in American toy stores for their Fall Collection.

Mic-O-Mic Americas is new, dynamic and already in receipt of the five prestigious Dr. Toy awards. The company is hoping to receive more Awards for their lovely toys as time goes by.
