Business Meetings & Conferences Succeed With xQuizit Game Shows

Too often, a tremendous amount of time is put into the planning and production of a business event that is supposed to engage and educate and motivate, only to have it end with the management thinking they have to find a way to improve on the next one.

For example, KEYSPAN ENERGY DELIVERY, a major utility in the northeast, enlisted xQuizit Game Shows to plan and produce their entire Sales and Marketing Kickoff Meeting. The entire affair had a TV show theme. The first half of the meeting featured the GoodDay KESPAN Show, fashioned after the Today Show, with special guests and news breaks to communicate the successes of the previous year and the goals for the upcoming year. There were no long speeches and endless slide presentations. Instead, it was an electric and energy-filled production, featuring full-scale sets, studio lights, four TV cameras and a giant screen displaying what the cameras were recording.

A short break gave the production crew time to remove the sets and curtains, and transform the venue into a broadcast quality game show studio. Then the sales and marketing staff were the stars of KEYSPANs $25 Million Challenge. xQuizit customized the show using their broadcast quality game show set, with computer-driven LED displays, TV lights and cameras. Nick Stavropoulos, president of KEYSPAN New England, said, It was absolutely the best sales meeting we ever had. Everybody left informed, and enthusiastic. We had a great time and a lot of fun." Dozens of the attendees were able to be contestants in the 75-minute show, featuring teams of five players who were asked a combination of company and industry questions, as well as survey questions (Family Feud--style). xQuizit created their own questions and surveyed over one hundred people on the streets of New England for their top five answers.

Survey questions included, Name something employees are not supposed to do at work," and Name something people talk about on a first date." Teams of players worked together to answer such questions as Who is the largest GPM customer KEYAPSN ENERGY DELIVERY serves in Massachusetts?" The staff played for points and prizes.

Rick Cram says the reasons why his game shows work so well at creating successful meetings has a lot more to do with the actual experience than with just the fun of it.
