24th Annual AFA Hall Of Fame Induction Dinner and 2nd Annual Old Timers Game - On The Beach" This December
The American Football Association is pleased to announce that it will return to Sarasota, Florida again this year to host the 24th Annual Hall of Fame Enshrinement weekend. The Hall of Fame events will take place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday the 9-10-11th of December at the Helmsley Sandcastle Resort Hotel located on Lido Beach (Sarasota) Florida.
(PRWEB) July 12, 2004 -- The American Football Association is pleased to announce that it will return to Sarasota, Florida again this year to host the 24th Annual Hall of Fame Enshrinement weekend. The Hall of Fame events will take place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday the 9-10-11th of December at the Helmsley Sandcastle Resort Hotel located on Lido Beach (Sarasota) Florida.
The 3 day event will kickoff on Thursday (Dec.9) with an afternoon press conference at the Helmsley Hotel followed that evening with the traditional AFA Alumni sponsored meet the new inductees 'in the Huddle cocktail and luau style pool party.
Friday morning and afternoon are open for the soon to be inducted Hall of Famers and their families (and guests) to visit the many attractions that the City of Sarasota and Lido Beach have to offer.
While much of the weekend is taken up with football related events, HOF banquet attendees will want to spend some time visiting the many shops and restaurants in the world famous St. Armands Circle shopping area - just a short distance from the AFAs headquarters resort hotel.
If shopping is not in your game plans for a football related weekend - then at least youll want to take a stroll down the white sandy beaches of Sarasotas Lido Key barrier island - perhaps stopping at one of the beaches Tiki Hut bars and take advantage of the tropical refreshments they specialize in.
The 24th induction dinner will begin with cocktails starting at 6 PM on Friday night followed by dinner at 7 PM. This years Class of '04 inductees are expected to be announced soon - as the nominating committee is currently in the process of reviewing prospects submitted by AFA Alumni members.
Saturday will also be a busy day for the new inductees, as they will have a chance to attend their first AFA Alumni Club Business Breakfast Meeting before hitting the beach to play in the 2nd annual Hall of Fame 'old timers game. In that match up the 'class of '04 (rookies) will take on a team of veteran HOF alumni in a touch tackle game on the soft beach sand of the Gulf of Mexico. Last years game was a blast - and it attracted the attention of many of the areas vacationing beach goers and local residents.
Later that evening the Class of '04", as well as the rest of the HOF Alumni, will be the guests of the AFA national association at the playing of the AFAs 25th Annual Semi-Pro National Championship Game. A halftime event is being planned to honor the Hall of Famers in attendance.
Over the past 24 years the AFA has inducted 431 coaches, players, executives, pioneers, trainers, equipment managers, officials, media directors, historians, and even some from the youth football, international semi-pro football and womens football categories.
Although the Class of 2004" will not be announced until after August 1st - AFA Alumni will soon be receiving hotel and dinner reservation information in the mail.
