Pike County Libraries Celebrate Completion of Youth Reading Program with Anti-Bullying Message
Local authors share their story, songs, and message about anti-bullying with children at library summer reading groups.
Greentown, PA (PRWEB) July 13, 2004 -- Local authors and anti-bullying advocates, Patricia Gatto and John De Angelis will present their children's story and share their message to the Hawley, Newfoundland, and Community Lake (formerly Salem/Hamlin) Libraries in August in celebration of the end of the summer reading program and in time to prepare the children for the new school year.
Based on their children's book, MILTON'S DILEMMA, this husband and wife writing team tell the tale of a lonely boy's struggles with the school bullies through a dramatic reading, guitar playing, and original songs. This program addresses the issues in an entertaining, yet thought-provoking manner in an effort to help children identify and cope with the negative and aggressive behavior of bullying. Their goal is to foster awareness, provide children with an understanding of their rights to a safe and healthy environment, and provide a platform for educators and caregivers to build and enforce anti-bullying policies as they encourage children to come forward and report incidents of bullying.
For more information on this presentation and other programs, you can call the libraries directly: Hawley (226-4620), Newfoundland (676-4518), and Community Lake (689-0903).
