The Bobbleheads set to kick off International Pop Overthrow

On Friday, July 16th, the Bobbleheads bring the fun to the beginning of the two week long International Pop Overthrow Music Festival in Los Angeles.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) July 15, 2004 -- Power Pop newcomers, The Bobbleheads (based in San Francisco), will be the first act of the first show of the world renowned Los Angeles International Pop Overthrow Festival on Friday, July 16th at Club Lingerie. Other notable acts playing that night are Rusty Anderson (Sir Paul McCartneys guitarist) and Grammy nominated singer songwriter Owsley. The show starts early at 7:30, tickets are sold only at the door for $10. The Bobbleheads will also be playing the San Francisco edition of International Pop Overthrow at Thee Parkside on August 5th.

International Pop Overthrow (or IPO, as it has affectionately become known) is a pop music festival, which has been held for the past six years in Los Angeles, and more recently in Chicago, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Liverpool, England (at the world famous Cavern Club)! Each International Pop Overthrow features between 100-180 of the best pop bands from around the world.

The purpose of International Pop Overthrow is two-fold: one aim is to give every worthy band who'd like to play their music in a festival atmosphere the chance to do so, and the other is to bring pop music the attention it so richly deserves. We have made great strides to that end, garnering press in several noteworthy papers in each city in which we hold the festival, and creating a very positive buzz about pop music within the inner circles of major labels. We're looking forward to the very real possibility that a number of bands that have played IPO will grab the brass ring and receive major label deals.

About The Bobbleheads:
The Bobbleheads (John Ashfield, guitar, vocals; Phil Bulan, drums, vocals; Eugene Koh, bass) have created a niche of niceness in which they rule. Working from San Francisco, CA, they have seemingly well to do backgrounds, are well educated and thus, happily dysfunctional. John, Phil, and Eugene's origins are geographically-different-but-the-same-wherever-you-go suburbia with malls, chain stores and endless parking. They play a standard guitar-drums-bass combo, but their unique style makes it difficult to pinpoint exactly what records are in their record collection. Their musical influences range from Flower Power Pop to Experimental Chamber Music.

They are castouts from outcasts, not being accepted by people who subscribe to the current definitions of hip, cool, indie, or alternative, although their music is much more along those lines. These anti-slackers are happy music geeks, pushing to make the perfect 3-minute song, not being burdened by mundane problems and having fun along the way. According to The Bobbleheads, the world isnt such a bad place after all.
