MedAlerts Prescription Medication Reminder Service Merges With NEVCO

(PRWEB) July 15, 2004 -- MedAlerts, Inc. (www.MedAlerts.net), a provider of a state-of-the-art medication reminder service to combat Prescription Non-Compliance, has merged with National Educational Video, Inc. (NEVCO"). MedAlerts President, Dr. Fred Tyson, stated, This merger was part of our strategic plan to align MedAlerts with an established and respected health care company that had the capabilities to take the company to the next level."

The MedAlerts service utilizes the telephone, a common factor in most peoples lives, to remind them to take their medication at the right time as prescribed by their doctor. A subscriber to the MedAlerts service will receive a telephone call at the time requested to remind them to take their necessary medications.

Ted Wolfendale, President of NEVCO and Dial-a-Nurse, concurred with Dr. Tyson as he stated, With the NEVCO network of advertising, taking MedAlerts to the international marketplace through our established partners should enable people to learn about this much needed service." NEVCO currently markets the United States, Canada, Australia, Hong Kong and other locations.

MedAlerts will benefit from this merger as NEVCO has the technical expertise to produce quality marketing materials and provide the necessary support staff for the projected growth of MedAlerts.

Prescription Non-Compliance is a highly dangerous problem affecting over 40% of all people taking medication. The statistics on this problem are astounding as 125,000 people die annually. Complications arising from non-compliance also account for 10% of all hospital admissions, an increase in hospital stays by 4.2 days, 23% of all nursing home admissions and are a staggering cost to insurance companies of $270 million daily solely attributable to non-compliance.

The target subscribers of the MedAlerts system are primarily for senior citizens but, people of all ages should benefit. People being treated for Parkinsons, cancer, diabetes, transplants and many other ailments need to take their medication at precise times to maximize the effect of the medicine. Caregivers have embraced this service as many are family and children of the aging parent. The caregivers are busy trying to raise their own families, work and other commitments. Now, with the MedAlerts system, the worry of making sure that someone takes their medication correctly can be alleviated.

How do I sign up? MedAlerts can easily be signed up for on the Internet at www.medalerts.net. The application is easy and quick to complete.
