Veteran Professional Piano Mover Invents Revolutionary Grand Piano Transportation Kit — The Holzter Grand Piano Pods
Owner and CEO of Holzter, LLC, Kevin Oberholtzer, has applied his own simple genius to the age-old, laborious task of moving grand pianos. This professional piano mover and wholesaler invented an innovative way to carefully and easily transport the critical parts of these beautiful and massive instruments, without the need for bulky moving accessories and difficult maneuvering. The patent-pending ‘Holzter Grand Piano Pods’ offer absolute protection and identification while moving grand piano legs, pedal lyres and hardware. The Holzter (as in 'holster') may single-handedly revolutionize this moving industry by replacing traditional moving pads, tape and straps, with one lightweight and easy-to-carry pod bundle.
Lake Geneva, WI (PRWEB) July 15, 2004 -- Simple genius—Veteran professional piano mover invents revolutionary grand piano transportation kit—the Holzter Grand Piano Pods.
The patent-pending 'Holzter Grand Piano Pods' offer absolute protection and identification while moving grand piano legs, pedal lyres and hardware. The Holzter (as in 'holster') may single-handedly revolutionize this moving industry by replacing traditional moving pads, tape and straps, with one lightweight and easy-to-carry pod bundle.
For the last 150 years, moving or storing a grand piano has relied on the old-fashioned moving technique using multiple blankets and pads to wrap legs, pedals and hardware. This method does little to protect the pieces from pressure or bump gouges, moisture or the loss of parts. National and local transfer companies, movers, retailers, and homeowners have all struggled with these liabilities, until now. Thanks to the Holzter each of those concerns has been eliminated.
Oberholtzer says, "I know a thing or two about caring for grand pianos—I've been moving them coast-to-coast since 1983." He has designed this revolutionary accessory to provide fast, form fitting, thickly padded and lightweight protection for grand piano parts. The specially lined "pods" house the legs, pedal lyre and hardware. "It provides a soft, fleece interior for piano parts to rest in during a move, while being encased in a tough, luggage-type exterior, sandwiched between three layers of ultra-light closed cell padding. This balance provides for protection of todays polyester finishes, considerably more costly to repair vs. the lacquer and varnish of days gone by" Oberholtzer says. "And, since most moving pads are blue, there's no particular way to identify what might be wrapped inside any given pad. This poses a problem because typically a moving company is transporting more than just one piano on the same truck at a time. It's difficult to quickly identify what pieces belong to which piano." The Holzter addresses this problem with an I.D. window sewn into each set. To further alleviate confusion, it also comes in a variety of colors.
The Holzter contains four quick-connect pods (three leg pods, and one pedal lyre pod with hardware pouch, rod sleeves, and large identification window.) All pods can be clipped together to create one secured, carrying bundle.
After being incredibly well-received in test markets here in the U.S. and overseas, Oberholtzer is now making the Holzter available to national moving and equipment distributors, piano supply houses, professional piano movers, local and long distance transportation companies, music, theatrical and art organizations, colleges and universities, and retailers.
