SAN DIEGO, CA (PRWEB) July 16, 2004 -- High-tech gender selection for preselecting the sex of a baby is a hot topic. It's been in a variety of media stories lately. The new book "Chasing the Gender Dream" describes the options available for parents who are interested in gender selection, and author Jennifer Merrill Thompson will discuss this book in a worldwide radio/Internet show this summer.

With the help of modern strides in reproductive technology, couples can now preselect the gender of their future baby. "Chasing the Gender Dream" tells how. Learn about MicroSort, preimplantation genetic diagnosis, and other sex selection methods when Thompson appears on "Authors First," an author interview show at ArtistFirst Radio (www.artistfirst.com).

The Authors First interview with Thompson will air Thursday, July 22, from 2 to 3 p.m. EDT, and again on Thursday, August 5, from 8 to 9 p.m. EDT. Anybody can tune in by going to the ArtistFirst website and clicking on the "Click to Listen" box. In her segment, Thompson will tell about her personal experiences with gender selection, what led her to write the book, and what the latest technology and newest methods are in this area.

"Chasing the Gender Dream: The Complete Guide to Conceiving Pink or Blue With the Latest Sex Selection Technology and Tips From Someone Who Has Been There" is the first published account of what its like to undergo MicroSort and all that it entails. Couples can gain firsthand knowledge from the book, published in Spring 2004 by Aventine Press. Thompson, a former newspaper journalist, was a mother of two boys who wanted to increase her chance of conceiving a daughter for her third child. She exhaustively researched all the methods for conceiving a baby girl, tried a few with her husband, and ultimately succeeded in bringing home a daughter. The book also relates others experiences with sex selection and family balancing."
