Independent Female Artists Unleash Indiegrrlapalooza 2004 Capos Café, Lowell MA, August 15, 2004

Indiegrrlapalooza, a summer tour featuring all female-fronted bands, will make its mark in MA at Capos Cafe, on August 15th. The Capos Cafe concert boasts a diverse and impressive lineup, including Allison Tartalia, Showin Tell, Valentino Drag, and Teresa Storch.

(PRWEB) July 17, 2004 -- Indiegrrlapalooza, a summer tour featuring all female-fronted bands, will make its mark in MA at Capos Cafe, on August 15th. The Capos Cafe concert boasts a diverse and impressive lineup, including Allison Tartalia, Showin Tell, Valentino Drag, and Teresa Storch.

After reviewing hundreds of band applicants, eleven female artists and female fronted bands were selected to tour this summer with Indiegrrlapalooza. The artists, who found one another via Indiegrrl, (www.indiegrrl.com), an online network for independent female musicians, will share the stage at venues throughout the Northeast during the months of July, August and September.

Indiegrrlapalooza is the brainchild of Jeska Ponzo of the band Showin Tell, who decided to assemble the girl-powered lineup in response to a lack of outlets for female artists, Ive grown tired of girls only getting to see the female pop stars as role models, there are many strong female rock artists who are being ignored. Men have dominated the rock music scene; I just thought it was time to showcase strong female artists working together for a great cause."

All eleven performers have also each donated a track to appear on the compilation CD Indiegrrlapalooza 2004, A Celebration of Women and Their Music. The CD will be available for sale at all Indiegrrlapalooza shows and will benefit Girlsmarts (www.girlsmarts.com). GirlSmarts offers workshops and retreats for teenage girls, giving them an opportunity to use artwork, improvisational movement, creative writing, storytelling, drama and other arts-based activities to discover and affirm their own beliefs and abilities and to develop self-esteem.
