Urban Advertising Breaks New Campaign for Citymeals

Urban Advertising has unveiled a campaign for Citymeals-on-Wheels that talks to New Yorkers where they eat.

NEW YORK (PRWEB) July 18, 2004 -- Urban Advertising has unveiled a campaign for Citymeals-on-Wheels that talks to New Yorkers where they eat. Posters promoting the not-for-profit that delivers meals to the homebound elderly, will begin appearing in Midtown, the Upper West Side and SoHo in the next week. It is the first work for the pro-bono client since they began working with Urban in June. The agency was inspired to reach out to Citymeals by an article in the March 7 edition of the New York Times in which writer N.R. Kleinfield outlined potential budget cuts that would threaten the frequency of much needed food deliveries.

Traditionally, Citymeals has spoken to older, more corporate audiences", said agency principle Bernard Urban, we wanted to appeal to younger people who are immersed in the citys restaurant culture. They might not have the money to attend black tie fundraisers, but we think they can help with a smaller donation or with their time. Theyre a great untapped resource -- people with the desire to help who have never been approached."

The SoHo based ad agency has created a series of three posters that picture actual Citymeals-on-Wheels meal recipients with headlines that confront the reader. Did you ever think the face of hunger could look like your grandfather?" asks one. Another reads Hate waiting 45 minutes for a table? Imagine waiting all weekend." And a third says For too many New Yorkers, any food is comfort food." Each poster is signed off with a plea to Help Citymeals-on-Wheels make sure that New Yorks homebound elderly dont go hungry" along with a website to go for more information.

The agency is currently searching for media partners willing to run the work as ads in local newspapers and magazines. Nobody can deny the importance of the message," said Urban. Now its just a matter of getting the message out. Im sure that some of these publishing guys who routinely drop a few hundred bucks on lunch will come through for us."
