Teacher Wins Trip to Hawaii in Sakura of America's 2004 Cray-Pas® Wonderful, Colorful, World Contest -- Sakura Accepting Submissions for Next Year's Contest

This is an announcement about annual teacher-student art contest, including sponsors, prizes, submission dates, deadlines, etc. Along with our contest announcement, the random winner of the trip to Hawaii we give to one teacher every year is announced.

(PRWEB) July 18, 2004 -- It's a long way from Pine Grove, PA to Honolulu, Hawaii, but that's how far the teacher-winner of Sakura's random prize trip for its 2004 Wonderful, Colorful World Art Contest will be traveling. Kim Shroeder, a teacher at Pine Grove Area Elementary School, in Pine Grove, Pa., will be going on a trip for two for participating in Sakura's contest for its Cray-Pas brand of oil pastels. This is just one way, albeit the most tropical, that Sakura celebrates teachers for keeping the visual arts alive in todays climate of dwindling education budgets.

At the same time, Sakura also announces that it is accepting submissions for next year's contest, its tenth anniversary. Peter Ouyang, Vice President of Product Development and Marketing Director reflects on the contest's longevity, "It's hard to believe it's already been 10 years since we started the contest. What's satisfying is seeing some teachers we've had from the start continue to submit their students' artwork while new teachers find out about the contest every year."

2005 Contest entry forms are available now from Sakura by either calling Sakura at 1-800-776-6257x177 or by e-mailing express@sakuraofamerica.com. Online entry forms at www.sakuraofamerica.com will be available August 1st, 2004. Entry forms will also be available at Michael's Arts and Craft Stores, and other retail sponsors, starting in September 2004. Enrtrants may begin submitting artwork July 1, 2004 and no artwork will be accepted later than December 17, 2004.

Next year, Sakura will offer a similar trip to a randomly selected teacher who enters his or her student's art, in addition to other prizes commemorating this important contest milestone. As usual, Sakura will also award recognition to top artwork submitted by teachers for their students.

Sakura's judging panel of professional artists and art educators selects three top finalists in three grade categories: kindergarten through second grade, third through fifth, and sixth through eighth. In addition, honorable mentions are selected in each grade category.

First through third place winning students each receive:

  • US Savings Bond, a t-shirt imprinted with their winning artwork
