ORTHOTEC Moves Forward Following Jury Verdict in Los Angeles, CA
Following a month long trial in the Los Angeles Superior Court, a Jury found in favor of spinal industry company ORTHOTEC against a French company, Eurosurgical, S. A., on ORTHOTEC'S claims of breach of contract and contractual interference. The jury awarded damages to ORTHOTEC of $9,000,000.
BEVERLY HILLS, CA (PRWEB) July 19, 2004 -- ORTHOTEC expands sales in the USA and organizes distribution overseas - Following a month long trial in the Los Angeles Superior Court, a Jury found in favor of spinal industry company ORTHOTEC against a French company, Eurosurgical, S. A., on ORTHOTEC'S claims of breach of contract and contractual interference. The jury awarded damages to ORTHOTEC of $9,000,000. Concurring with the jury's findings, the Court confirmed ORTHOTEC'S exclusive ownership of all marketing and intellectual property rights associated with certain spinal implants and surgical tools sold in the United States and North America. Eurosurgical formerly acted as ORTHOTEC's contract manufacturer for these products.
ORTHOTEC CEO Patrick Bertranou states, "OrthoTec is pleased with the outcome of the trial and is looking forward to reclaiming and expanding its market share in the spine industry by developing new sales networks in the US and abroad."
ORTHOTEC is also aggressively pursuing the protection of its intellectual properties in Federal Court against among others Eurosurgical and Canadian company Medistrat for the sale of counterfeit products, as well as Trademark, Copyright and Patent Infringement.
