The FBI Interviews Arabs and Muslims

The Free Muslim Coalition Against Terrorism urges the Arab and Muslim Communities not to be fearful of these interviews and to cooperate fully with the FBI and other law enforcement agencies.

(PRWEB) July 20, 2004 -- The FBI, in collaboration with the regional Joint Terrorism Task Forces, is launching a series of interviews of Muslims and Arab Americans in the Washington area and across the country, hoping to learn information that could prevent a major terrorist attack during this election year.

Undoubtedly, many in the Arab and Muslim communities will complain that these interviews are nothing less than profiling and discrimination. The Free Muslim Coalition Against Terrorism urges the Arab and Muslim Communities not to be fearful of these interviews and to cooperate fully with the FBI and other law enforcement agencies.

We are living in difficult times and certain terrorist groups have indicated that they plan to attack the United States to disrupt the upcoming elections

Most and possibly all of the people who will be interviewed will feel that they posses no information that could help law enforcement in the war against terrorism. This feeling may be accurate. However, sometimes a tidbit of information that may seem insignificant to the person who has it may be significant to law enforcement authorities when combined with other information previously accumulated.

Victimization is a state of mind. The American Arab and Muslim communities, rather than feel victimized, should feel fortunate to have the opportunity to help their country fight terrorism.

The Free Muslim Coalition Against Terrorism understands that some people may feel intimidated about talking to the FBI. However, the Justice Department has made it clear that the people who are interviewed are not necessarily suspects. If it would make people more comfortable to have a lawyer during these interviews, that is perfectly fine. In fact, any one who is contacted for an interview and wants a lawyer but can not afford one should contact the Free Muslim Coalition Against Terrorism and we will do our best to provide a lawyer free of charge.

Terrorism is the biggest danger the world faces today and everyone, Muslim and non-Muslim, needs to do their part to help win this war. We remind people that even if you are not contacted by the FBI but have important information, you may anonymously contact the Free Muslim Coalition Against Terrorism and we will make sure that your information reaches the proper authorities.
