NMEDA Invited to Washington in Recognition of the 14th Americans with Disabilities Act
National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association recognized as a leader of mobility safety by the White House.
Tampa, FL (PRWEB) July 22, 2004 -- NMEDA, the National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association, has been invited to Washington to participate in the Assistive Technology Exhibit and Policy Forum on July 27, 2004 at the U.S. Department of Commerce.
The event, held in recognition of the anniversary of the ADA, will be hosted by the U.S. Department of Commerce and the U.S. Department of Education and will highlight advances made in assistive technology with exhibits by over 40 leading companies, government agencies, and associations advocating for people with disabilities. It will also promote and provide information about assistive technology. Key exhibitors and panelists will include representatives of NMEDA, General Motors, Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard and the Departments of Education, Commerce, Justice and Defense. The policy forum will feature panelists focusing on emerging technologies in the field, the market potential of new assistive technology, and advances in assistive technology for all populations.
NMEDA, originally formed as an Association of Mobility Equipment Dealers in the state of Florida is now known internationally as an organization committed to ensuring quality and professionalism in the manufacture and installation of safe and reliable mobility equipment in vehicles for drivers and passengers with disabilities. The organization promotes and supports individual members engaged in the adaptation of quality transportation equipment for persons with disabilities.
The National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association establishes national guidelines, encourages professionalism, serves as an information resource center, provides a source for mediation and complaint intervention, offers professional training, educational opportunities and publications.
