Renowned Chef Launches Print-On-Demand Bookstore
AuthorHouse Writer Helps Other Authors Achieve Success
BLOOMINGTON, IN (PRWEB) July 24, 2004 -- Executive Pastry Chef Victor Kline embarked on an adventure to self-publish his own cookbook, Low Carb Sinfully Delicious Desserts (now available through AuthorHouse), which caught the attention of a traditional publisher 90 days after it became available for sale. With his book rising to success, Kline started his own business-the first bookstore dedicated exclusively to self-published authors.
After Sinfully Delicious Desserts piqued the interest of Hatherleigh Press at the 2004 BookExpo America, Kline aspired to open Hidden Talent Book Store and CaféTM in Davenport, Fla. His business welcomes books from self-published authors and eliminates competition from traditionally published works.
I wanted to give people the opportunity to get their book on a real shelf for real customers to buy," says Kline. Since self-published titles are mainly available through Internet or telephone orders, Kline is making history by opening a physical store that caters only to books from many print-on-demand publishing companies, vanity presses and even authors that create their own books at home.
Kline charges an annual fee of $49 for each book, which covers the cost of maintaining the bookstore and Web site. Additionally, Kline retains a 10 percent commission fee on purchases. Authors receive monthly checks for books that are sold and are free to end the relationship at any time. Pornography and hate literature are not welcome.
Hidden Talent typically accepts a maximum of five volumes of a book. However, for $99 authors can purchase an option called Stackers," which allows 100 volumes to be placed on the shelves.
Hidden Talents other features include classified advertisements, which authors can purchase to promote their books on the stores Web site. Kline also offers promotions such as newsletters and press releases, and welcomes authors questions. As a man who has achieved great success from his print-on-demand experience, he is full of ideas for promoting books. His next book, 101 Ways: How to Market Your Books for under $10, will soon be available through AuthorHouse.
Kline plans to open two additional Hidden Talent stores before the end of 2005. A truly unique business endeavor, this print-on-demand paradise is sure to make many new voices heard in the years to come.
