Infoshred Awarded for Its Commitment to Workplace Safety and Health; Connecticut Department of Labor Recognizes South Windsor Company With Prestigious SHARP" Certification

Infoshred, LLC, destruction and recycling services, has earned the distinction of being one of only 20 companies in New England to achieve the highest level certification for workplace safety and health.

(PRWEB) July 26, 2004 -- Infoshred, LLC has earned the distinction of being one of only 20 companies in New England to achieve the highest level certification for workplace safety and health. The Connecticut Department of Labor's Division of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (CONN-OSHA) and the U.S. Department of Labor awarded Infoshred for completing the Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP).

A voluntary program, SHARP recognizes small employers who operate an exemplary safety and health management system. According to the Department of Labor, companies participating in SHARP, must request a consultation visit that includes a complete hazard identification survey and involves employees in the consultation process. All identified hazards must then be corrected and the company must implement a safety and health management system to lower the Lost-Workday Injury and Illness Rate (LWDII) and Total Recordable Case Rate (TRCR) below the national average.

With rigorous standards, fewer than 700 companies nationally have achieved SHARP certification. Infoshred demonstrated its commitment to health and safety by establishing and strictly adhering to an individualized workplace plan, according to Richard Palo, Acting Director of CONN-OSHA.

At Infoshred, our two foremost concerns are safety for our employees and security for our customers," said Jack DiPiazza, general manager. We have 18 employees and operate a state-of-the-art secure facility that includes a 125-horsepower industrial shredding machine, conveyors, and bailing equipment. We need to be safe. We were pleased to work with the CONN-OSHA consultants to improve our overall safety level and were proud to have earned the SHARP certification."

The award was presented to Infoshred at the First Annual SHARP Luncheon at the Glen Ellen Country Club in Millis, Mass. The event recognized companies in the New England Region and was sponsored by the Massachusetts Division of Occupation Safety On-Site Consultation Program.

Founded in 1993, Infoshred, LLC is a leading provider of secure document management services. The company is a charter member of NAID, the National Association of Information Destruction, and is rated "AAA" certified, the highest possible rating for security, compliance and customer service. Infoshred is certified by the State of Connecticut as a Minority/Woman-Owned business and complies with all local, state and federal requirements including the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Infoshred is located at 330 Nutmeg Road South in South Windsor.
