U.S. Attorney on Terror and Corruption

Debra Yang, U.S. Attorney, outlined new Federal strategy saying, "In this Administration our goal is to disrupt and dismantle; our goal is not to have the crime actually occur."

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) July 25, 2004 -- According to Debra Yang, U. S. Attorney for the Central California District "the war on terror" has changed Federal law enforcement priorities from prosecution to prevention. In this part 2 of her interview with Emmy Award winning FULL DISCLOSURE host Leslie Dutton, Yang outlined new Federal strategy saying, "In this Administration our goal is to disrupt and dismantle; our goal is not to have the crime actually occur." Yang also described the 80 recent arrests at L. A. International Airport where individuals who had obtained security badges while using false IDs and employment applications, and who also had criminal records and were in the country illegally.

Public corruption is also high priority in the U. S. Attorney's office. Yang said that corruption in the contract bidding process cannot be tolerated "because the minute you let a little bit of that happen then everybody else thinks it is OK." She said, "You have to have absolute open air policy with the bidding."

Asked if the U. S. Attorney's office ever considered the risk of loosing big prosecution cases before they a public corruption case, Yang said, "Absolutely not. I think that one of the things that our office is sort of famous for is not assessing that risk." "The only goal is to find our what exactly happened and if there was criminal conduct involved."

On Tuesday, June 22, 2004 the LAUSD board approved the project's environmental impact report, paving the way for completion of the stymied project.
