Harrington Design Company helps unite design firms to boost offerings

Local design firms aligning, joining forces

JACKSONVILLE (PRWEB) July 25, 2004 -- While many design professionals desire the autonomy of a solo practice, being completely independent can be a quite a challenge. Some North Florida graphic design firms are joining forces to tap each other's expertise when required for projects.

•Harrington Design and GatePost Software managed back end development with nGen Works.

•nGen Works, Harrington Design and GatePost Software often co-bid on Web Design projects, and Application Development.

•The trio consults regularly on design issues, best practices and who makes the best Pizza in San Marco.

"There's plenty of work to go around. nGen Works client base is made up of primarily corporate clients while HD caters to small businesses and professional services. It's a happy mix and we rarely compete head-to-head on projects," said Jeff Harrington, Design Director for Harrington Design.

After leaving large firms, the principals realized how much they appreciated the opportunities to collaborate with like-minded colleagues on projects. We all had a good bit of expertise in specific areas, but one thing we needed was ready access to other experts and resources. It gives us marketing muscle usually seen in the larger firms so we compete on an even playing field," said Carl Smith, a partner at nGen Works.
Our collaborations are based on the idea that design firms with complementary skills and locations could create a project-by-project affiliation combining expertise, design resources and marketing efforts for combined and individual advantage," said Harrington.

The three collaborating firms are headquartered in North Florida with client bases all over the country.

"Harrington Design is known for branding and identity redesign in certain areas," Harrington notes. "Being specialists, but still wanting to be a one-stop shop for our clients needs, we have reliable resources to do things that are not always in our firms focus area."

When Harrington engages a partner to provide expertise for a project, he is certain the client will benefit from senior-level skills. And the knowledge of each other allows the players to jump-start any project.

Harrington Designs(www.eharrington.com) mission is to bring the same big-agency commitment to communications excellence, the same passion for persuasion to small and mid-sized businesses, corporations and non-profit entities. It has been Harrington Designs privilege to provide award-winning design solutions for our client base.

Jeffrey Harrington worked as Art Director for five years at Jacksonville's largest ad agency with a one-year period on the interactive team as Web Designer. His work has been recognized by the AIGA, How Magazine, and the Southeast Regional Addy Awards. He graduated with a BA in Graphic Design from Flagler College in 1996.
