True Story of a Mother's Abuse: Family Writes Book to Heal Scars of Troubled Childhood

Book written by Keith Coachman documents the true story of childhood abuse his aunts Dottie Bug and Patti Cake suffered and their journey to healing.

ATLANTA, GA (PRWEB) July 25, 2004 -- There is now an established body of knowledge clearly linking a history of child sexual abuse with higher rates in adult life of depressive symptoms, anxiety symptoms, substance abuse disorders, eating disorders and post-traumatic stress disorders. When we put ourselves in the shoes of an abused, molested, and hated child we then understand how many of them grow up to be the rapists, robbers, and serial killers of our day. Mental and physical abuse of children severely traumatizes the physiological well-being of a growing child. Reports show that unresolved abuse in a child is a classic foundation for mentally unstable adults and criminal acts. While this is the plight of some, we draw hope from the story of two girls who overcame the horrors of parental abuse and neglect. This inspiring story is told in the book "Lost in the Sins of Their Mother." The writer of the book, Keith Coachman, recounted the childhood struggles of his own mother and aunt.

The story is based on the real-life experiences of two sisters who take us into their troubled upbringing. Their mother was a woman whose life became ruled by sexual desire, hate, neglect, and gluttony. The good and bad of family relations is the backbone of this book. Many people relate to this story on some level since everyone in some way is molded by the way they were raised. These sisters demonstrate that opening the heart to forgiveness is the first step in cleansing the soul. Through the story, we, the readers will find the strength, determination, and the will to survive life's worst times. We also learn the importance of unconditional love for children. Parents can learn to use the pain of their upbringing to ensure a better future for their children.

While these two sisters were writing their memoirs in an attempt of heart cleansing self-therapy, they decided that their story should be shared with the world. The sisters sought out their son and nephew as the writer. Keith Coachman is the writer and has been a long-term family history enthusiast. In preparing for the book, Patti Cake's and Dottie Bug's research led them to visit many counties, make countless phone calls, and hold multiple interviews with legal authorities and family members. Through this preparation they discovered a trail of murder, deception, and undying love that undoubtedly will keep readers on the edge of their seat.

"Lost in The Sins of Their Mother" steps beyond cultural difference, Social class, and age group and reaches us in an area of which we all have experience; family ties. The family hopes that this book will encourage people to open their hearts to painful issues and find forgiveness. Previous readers of the book were left with only two words for the writers; Thank you."

The actual names of the book's characters have been changed in order to protect their identity. Thus, the sisters book names are Patti Cake and Dottie Bug while the author goes by the name Keith Coachman. Several book signings are being coordinated, including the Fayette County and Clayton County Barnes & Noble branches near the home of the events that molded the two little girls as they overcame their upbringing. The book is available for purchase at Amazon.com, Barnesandnoble.com, and Booksamillion.com; among other retailers. It retails for $14 (US) or $8(UK). The ISBN is 1-59268-054-2.
