In August 2000 Dr. Bernard Frischer, Director of the UCLA Virtual Reality Laboratory, requested use of three Cantilena Records CDs featuring Laurel Zucker, for a documentary film presenting a 3D computer model of the Early Christian Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore of Rome. This film was created and shown for the AUREA ROMA SHOW for Romes' Jubilee Year and at the request of the Vatican, City of Rome and The Italian Ministry of Culture. The film played continually from December 2000 to April 2001 in an English and Italian version in Rome at the Palace of Exhibitions, the largest, major Roman facility for temporary exhibitions. the music from the Zucker Cds playing continuously on all three floors of the Palace of Exhibitions for the other art exhibits as well.
Since 1988 Ms. Zucker is Professor of Flute at California State University in Sacramento where she has received numerous Awards: The Presidents Award for Creative and Scholarly Activity 1997-08; the CSUS Research & Creativity Awards for 1998-99 and 2000-01; Faculty Sponsor for the Faculty Endowment fund Scholarly & Creative Activity Award 1998; Professional Promise Award 1989. In 2000 Professor Zucker was nominated for the Outstanding Teaching Award by her flute majors at CSUS and in Spring 2000 was nominated by President of CSUS, Donald Gerth for the prestigious Wang Family Excellence Award.
Laurel Zucker received a scholarship to The Juilliard School where she received her BM in 1978 for Flute Studies with Samuel Baron. She received a MA in composition with honors from New York University. Ms. Zucker also attended new england Conservatory of Music from 197375 where she studied with Paula Robison; and privately with Marcel Moyse.
