Independent Film sparks terrorism dialogue
As it continues its uncanny ability to predict what will happen, Room 13: Pure Terror" promotes discussion on homeland security
(PRWEB) July 27, 2004 -- The 9/11-commission report has made a case for the creation of an intelligence czar. This comes as no surprise to William Lee, the director and producer of Room 13: Pure Terror". Whats amazing is that his film already has such a character, and that it was written into the script a year ago!
This movie continues to amaze me. I mean, the way its scenes become reality within weeks of being shot," says Lee. Its something I certainly never expected."
The intelligence czar of Room 13", Stratton, is a product of frustration. He is commissioned to actively fight terrorism because conventional means simply arent working. His alternative means produce results, but are the outcomes justifiable? The movie is set for general release in a few weeks and I dont want to give away the plot before people see it," says Lee. What I can tell you about Stratton is 'power corrupts. If you see the movie, youll understand what Im saying."
Room 13: Pure Terror" explores what can happen when the need for security justifies extreme means. Its main character, Vincent Kamiglia, has the original task of fighting terrorist agents but gradually goes after anyone he thinks is evil, or in his way. Other characters in the movie contribute to the insanity as the means become increasingly drastic, and the ends achieved less justifiable. The result is a story full of twists that encourages discussion, which is what the director is looking to achieve and he is emphatic about the pressing need to do so.
I dont care what your political views are; you need to rationally discuss the issues of homeland security and the response to terrorism. This film shows conflicting views, and each side gets an equal voice. Nobody is ridiculed. The issue is too important to be just a bumper sticker slogan. We need to talk about this."
The movie is set for release in late summer or early autumn. Both Lee and the distributor, Westbridge Entertainment, are confident that Room 13:Pure Terror" will be able to generate the discussion so desperately needed to form a logical outlook on what the United States must do to remain secure and retain treasured liberties at the same time.
