ICS Penetron-treated Sewage Plant opens in Milano
1 million Italian citizens will have cleaner water
East Setauket, NY (PRWEB) July 28, 2004 -- ICS Penetron International Ltd., a global leader in waterproofing products for major construction projects, today announced the opening of the new water purification plant it helped build in Milano, Italy. The city considers the sewage plant critical to purifying the sewage of the west part of Milan and of the Milanese town Settimo.
Milano was formerly the only European capital without water treatment facilities, according to Riviera Romagnola officials, and had been contributing considerable pollution to the area via the Lambro River, which flows through the Romagna region of Italy.
In late 2001, DITRON s.r.l., a Penetron distributor, presented the Penetron system to the projects general contractor CMB Corporation. They convinced the Milan city officials that the Penetron system was a better solution than the epoxy bituminous adhesives originally specified.
"We used Penetron in the initial part of the project," said Raniero Brosolo, project manager for CMB. The engineers were so pleased with how it worked that they directed us to use the Penetron System for the rest of the project."
Government officials consider treating the sewage of 1,000,000 users a fundamental step towards improving the standard of living and the quality of the environment in the region.
We are proud to have made such an important contribution towards getting this facility up and running," said Robert Revera, president of ICS Penetron. Their satisfaction with the performance of Penetron materials underscores the success of our commitment to providing international customers with reliable waterproofing protection for their mission-critical projects."
To waterproof and protect the 150,000 m2 of surfaces in the plant, CMB us15, 2ed 250,000 kg of Penetron waterproofing materials in a three-pronged approach to application. Penetron chemicals were sprayed on most vertical surfaces, dry-shake applied to fresh concrete colors, and brushed on hardened tank floors. Penecrete was used to repair spalled and damaged areas, patch tie holes, and fill cracks. All of these methods supply the same quality of self-healing for concrete.
