AppsTech Wins Significant Court Rulings against MTN Cameroon
Judge orders GSM provider to pay AppsTech US$3.2 million. MTN Cameroon Accounts seized.
Douala, Cameroon (PRWEB) July 29, 2004 -- Application Technologies Inc. (AppsTech), a leader in information technology (IT) solutions for multinational corporations and governments, today announced that it has won two important rulings against its client MTN Cameroon in a lawsuit for unpaid invoices related to a software implementation.
In an order signed on May 26, 2004, the President of the High Court of Douala, ordered the GSM operator to pay AppsTech 1.73 billion CFA Francs, or roughly US$3.2 million. In a separate ruling, the Court of First Instance of Douala-Bonanjo ordered that MTN Cameroon bank accounts be seized to protect the amount owed.
We are incredibly saddened by the turn of events. We never expected that this matter would end up in court. For months, we tried both informal and official means to resolve the matter amicably," said AppsTechs Group CEO Rebecca Enonchong. When MTN Cameroon stopped showing up at the conciliation sessions before the Conciliatory Judge, even after first agreeing to pay, we were left with no choice but to file a lawsuit to recover the debt." said Enonchong.
AppsTech is responding to a media campaign which MTN Cameroon recently launched in purchasing full page ads against AppsTech in local Cameroon newspapers. AppsTech has not commented publicly on the ads or the court action until now.
