The Leesburg, Fla., facility of Inkster, Mich. based EaglePicher Wolverine Division continues its enviable safety record with yet another year of no lost time accidents. Through April 30, 2004, no employee lost any time from work beyond the day of injury.
LEESBURG, FL (PRWEB) July 29, 2004 -- The Leesburg, Fla., facility continues its enviable safety record with yet another year of no lost time accidents. This means that no employee has lost any time from work beyond the day of injury for the entire year.
This new record is for the 12-month period leading up to April 30, 2004, according to Raymond Dewyer, Director of Health, Safety and Environment for EaglePicher Automotive. This is quite an accomplishment for any manufacturing facility," he said. The national average for a plant of this type is 2 lost time accidents per 100 employees per year."
The current accomplishment is one in a long line of safety records for the facility, according to Terry Ray, Leesburg plant manager. The plant achieved two consecutive years with no lost time accidents during 1996-1997 and 1997-1998. They repeated the performance during 2000-2001 and 2001-2002.
The plants Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) programs enjoy the support of all employees, said Ray. Our success is driven by the involvement and commitment of our employees. We take a long-term approach to being accident free -- we work with every employee, in every manufacturing environment, to make sure that we prevent and/or correct the cause of any safety or environmental issue within the plant."
