Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) July 30, 2004 -- Music & Motion Dance Productions launches its 2004 season with the premiere of "Illuminescence" at the 2004 Philadelphia Live Arts Festival & Philly Fringe.

In this new dance work, produced under the artistic direction of Steven Weisz, light becomes the foundational element through which sculpture and movement arise and coalesce. This is the first collaborative effort between this young dance group and veteran Philadelphia sculptor Peanutbutter aka Robert Woodward. This original dance work is a lush fusion of colors, emerging to create an array of visual illusions while set to a mix of world electronica.

Music & Motion is a group of pre-professional dancers ages fourteen thru eighteen, who have expressed an interest in pursuing a professional career in dance. Under the artistic direction of Steven Weisz, this dance groups mission is to empower young people by way of the arts and dance, building self-esteem and inspiring creative self expression and community action. To that end, Music & Motion performs locally and in surrounding communities some eighteen performances a year, as well as performances in a fully professional atmosphere presented for corporations, retailers and live arts related venues. Music & Motion fulfills the need for providing young dancers with performing experience in a nurturing environment, while continually exciting audiences wherever they perform. The collaborative efforts of the entire company create a synergy rich in imagination, celebration and spirit.

Sculptor-painter-jeweler Robert Woodward is also known as Peanutbutter. He and his eponymous troupe of artists have decorated faces all over the world. He was an Artist-in-Residence as a Cultural Ambassador to Syria for the U.S. Embassy. He has performed face and body painting in Bali, Tokyo, Brazil, India, Puerto Rico, and France, as well as nationally at venues like the Corcoran Museum in Washington DC and Universal Studios in Los Angeles. A featured guest on Martha Stewart's television program, this recipient of a Philadelphia 1% for Art Commission, has exhibited his sculpture at the Philadelphia Art Museum and the Delaware Center for Contemporary Art. His paintings and photographs were featured in a major exhibit at the Kavehaz Gallery in SoHo. Collaborating with Flash Rosenberg, he created numerous motion/painting performance spectacles for nightclubs.

Woodward began his career as an artist immediately after earning a Pre-Med degree in Biology at The University of Pennsylvania. This valedictorian, hand-ball aficionado, francophile, costume designer and sui generis bon vivant uses materials in innovative ways to render the visual arts as a free-wheeling, physical sensation.

Vocalist, poet/song writer Maria Ginneby will be making her debut with Music & Motion in "Illuminescence". Maria has won several awards for her performances on local, state, and national levels. Involved in musical theater from an early age, she has appeared in such shows as The Little Mermaid, A Tribute to Broadway, and The Whos Tommy. Maria has performed at the Grange Fair, the Kelsey Theater, and the Philips Mill Theater.

A series of separate vignettes by photo-humorist FLASH ROSENBERG in collaboration with musicextruder/brother KEN ROSENBERG will round out the program.

Photo-humorist Flash Rosenberg merges her experience as a photographer, writer, cartoonist, clown, filmmaker, turtle-wrangler and romantic as a way of being. Her essays and cartoons have been widely published. Symphony Space featured her latest show, "Know Flash Aloud" in the 2004 American Comic Vision Festival. In New York she has also appeared at Lincoln Center, The Bottom Line, Toyota Comedy Festival, the Joseph Papp Public Theater, Gotham Comedy Club, and The Jewish Museum, among other notable art dives. Her audio snapshots, Flash Moments" were a daily feature on public radio in Philadelphia, where she was twice voted "Local Comedian Most likely to Make You Laugh Until it Hurts" by readers of the "City Paper," an honor so daunting she fled to New York City. She is an educational consultant for Sony Digital Photo, taught photo-perception courses for Cooper Union, including a class conducted entirely in the New York City subways. She works as a professional event photographer. This graduate of Sears Charm School promises to play nicely with her brother Ken to wreak havoc, music, logic and merriment in a new piece crafted for the Fringe.

Music-extruder Ken Rosenberg has written, arranged and performed original music in jazz bands, pit orchestras, rock and roll bands, marching bands, rap sessions, electronic music productions, theater, radio, television and motion pictures. Ken collaborated with his sister Flash on numerous projects including the theme music for "Flash Moments," and soundtracks for her films, "Pulse of Desire" and "Mattress Melt." He has performed musical-comedy in New York (including a heroic attempt to make 10 sounds with his body at once). Ken currently works as a computer consultant for Proactive Performance Solutions, Inc. where he is considered the missing link between computer programmers and human beings. He is a partner at Wavetec recording studio in Delaware.
