Positive spirit drives global photo community - 20,000 members in 4 years
In April 2000 Bo Stahlbrandt and J. Ramón Palacios started a community for photographers who wanted to share their own passion for Nikon cameras and equipment. Now, 4 years later, the Nikonians.org community has over 20,000 members from 116 countries.
(PRWEB) July 30, 2004 -- Sometimes dreams come true. In April 2000 Bo Stahlbrandt and J. Ramón Palacios started a community for photographers who wanted to share their own passion for Nikon cameras and equipment. The idea was to bring Nikon users together, to exchange experiences, opinions and to have fun.
Now, 4 years later, the Nikonians community (www.nikonians.org) has over 20,000 members from 116 countries, ambitious photographers who enjoy being part of the global Nikonians family. There are photo contests, workshops, a variety of discussion forums, photo galleries, an eZine (electronic magazine) called "The Nikonian" and an online shop (www.photoproshop.com). 35 volunteers help out keeping all this going, 24 hours a day, all year long.
"With Nikonians, Nikon photographers have a worldwide home" says J. Ramón Palacios, one of the two founders. "It's a community based on respect and cordiality where friendliness has been key to our success. We believe it's vital to share a positive, global community spirit in times of uncertainty and stress for so many people all over the world". At Nikonians photographers meet and discuss techniques, composition and much more. The community invites any photographer who either has or plan to buy Nikon equipment and there is a free, trial membership.
The fourth of the popular "ANPATs" (Annual Nikonians Photo Adventure Tour) takes place in Colorado, USA this year. Even if a large number of the members are located in North America, Nikonians is also expanding in Europe. Amongst other, events will also be organized in Europe and forums for non-English speakers - starting with German - are projected.
