7 Fluid Oz. Productions LLP Launches the Boston Motion Picture Awards

In contrast to traditional film festivals, which provide exposure for recently-completed films, 7 Fluid Oz. Productions LLP has launched the Boston Motion Picture Awards, a program that provides independent filmmakers the opportunity to obtain the one thing that filmmakers find most elusive--funding for future work.

Boston, MA (PRWEB) August 2, 2004 -- In contrast to traditional film festivals, which provide exposure for recently-completed films, 7 Fluid Oz. Productions LLP has launched the Boston Motion Picture Awards, a program that provides independent filmmakers the opportunity to obtain the one thing that filmmakers find most elusive--funding for future work.

In 2003, when 7 Fluid Oz. partners Aaron and Seth Howland traveled to film festivals across the United States, they found that the one question filmmakers overwhelmingly ask one another is this: Where did you get your funding?" Because filmmaking is perhaps the most expensive art form, funding is scarce, especially for independent filmmakers producing short films with little opportunity for large-scale distribution.

In August 2004, 7 Fluid Oz. will launched the Boston Motion Picture Awards, which functions in much the same way as a college application process. Filmmakers pay a modest application fee, and the 7 Fluid Oz. partners, as well as a panel of qualified members of the film industry, evaluate their films. In December, the panel will determine which filmmakers, based on their submitted films, are most deserving of funding for future work. This funding will be comprised of both guaranteed money and a percentage of all entry fees collected during the application process.

This years panel includes Sayed Badreya, award-winning filmmaker (T for Terrorist) and actor (Shallow Hal, The Insider). Sponsors of the event include Creative Screenwriting magazine and Peter Bielagus, a New-England-based financial author and speaker.
