(PRWEB) August 4, 2004 -- InterAct Public Safety Systems is proud to announce the successful opening of the Harrisburg Super Core site, the first of five centralized dispatching and records management centers for the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP). This represents a major milestone in the three-year statewide project because it is the first step towards the consolidation of Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and Records Management System (RMS) responsibilities from the 81 individual State Police Stations into five state-of-the-art centers.
The project, which combines the efforts of InterAct Public Safety Systems, Lockheed-Martin, Aether Mobile and a number of other software vendors, offers PSP a host of benefits including better communication between jurisdictions, more efficient routing of patrol cars, enhanced response capabilities, increased officer safety and better record keeping.
This phase of the project will include the overhaul of the statewide record keeping process by integrating the states 81 separate E9-1-1 data-collecting/recording centers into a single database. This will simplify data exchanges between county dispatch offices and the Pennsylvania State Police.
PSP has also integrated Automatic Vehicle Locator system (AVL), which enables dispatchers to track the geographic location of all PSP patrol cars directly on their monitor. The dispatcher can then route the cars that are within the closest proximity to an incident, shedding minutes off of response time. PSP Troopers can even view where other troopers are on the road, allowing units to assist one another.
Included under the Prime Contract, the PSP system will include centralized centers in Norristown, Scranton, Clarion and Greensboro. Lockheed-Martin will oversee total system integration and engineering, InterAct will provide Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and Geographical Information System (GIS) software and hardware products, Aether Mobile's Packet Cluster and Packet Writer (mobile devices) will provide silent dispatch and field reporting, and ABM America (UK) will provide Records Management System (RMS).
The entire project is slated for completion in Spring 2007.
