Shawna Bacas Film, Roses Garden Starring Tippi Hedren Won Big at LA TV Short Film Fest including Best Film and Best Actress
Up and coming Latina filmmaker, Shawna Baca wins BEST FILM AND BEST ACTRESS-Tippi Hedren at the LA TV Short Film Festival. The film has been in seven festivals and won three awards.
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) August 3, 2004 -- Rose's Garden Won Big at Last Night's LA TV Short Film Fest!!! Up and coming Latina Indie filmmaker Shawna Baca wins two awards at last nights ceremony. Tippi Hedren (of the Alfred Hitchcock fame, The Birds") takes award for the BEST ACTRESS category and Shawna Baca is honored with BEST FILM.
Roses Garden is her second film. It has been in seven film festivals and has won three awards. Two at LA TV Short Film Festival and one in the Cinema de Festival dú Paris. The film will next screen at the 10th Annual CinSinFin Festival on September 4th, at the LA Shorts Fest, September 7th-13th and in December at Josephina Lopezs Boyle Heights Latina Film Festival.
Her first film, Impersonal Impression won the Slamdance Anarchy competition April 2002. I started out as an actress who wanted a demo reel, so I could get an agent but stumbled across filmmaking. I had always been a writer and an actress but never thought I would be writing my own screenplays to produce and direct. I have been extremely successful as a filmmaker who didnt go to film school and have fallen in love with the magic of bringing my stories to life."
Shawna Baca, also a member of the US GEN Committee at Ricardo Montalbáns organization, Nosotros. She has created a path to bring in more incentives for filmmakers within the organization and is one of the film festival directors for the Nosotros American Latino Film Festival, November 5-7, 2004. This festival came about out of the success of the 2003 Nosotros Latin Filmmakers Showcase which was well received by major players in the entertainment industry.
