Seminole Electric Cooperative Licenses Allegro To Support Natural Gas Procurement Operations
DALLAS, TX (PRWEB) August 5, 2004 -- Allegro Development has licensed several Allegro v7.0 software components to Seminole Electric Cooperative (Seminole), Tampa, Florida, to support its natural gas procurement and volume management activities. Seminole, a generation and transmission cooperative, provides wholesale electricity to 10 member distribution systems located throughout peninsular Florida. More than 1.6 million individuals and businesses in 46 Florida counties rely on Seminole and its members for electric service, together comprising the third largest energy consumer group in Florida.
Since Seminoles first natural gas-fueled facility, the combined cycle gas Payne Creek Generating Station, came on line in January 2002, the Cooperative has used internal tools to manage its natural gas procurement business processes.
We expect a substantial increase in our need for natural gas over the next several years," said Mr. William (Jack) Reid, Seminoles Director of Fuel Supply. Our goal was to acquire a commercial system to help us better manage our gas procurement processes."
Reid says that Seminole needed a management solution that could scale and grow with its requirements, with potential applications for other energy procurement activities.
Allegro Development met our requirements and showed us they understand our business," said Mr. Kurt Gregson, Seminoles Senior Gas Supply Coordinator. They had the right solution to keep our natural gas procurement processes current and auditable." Gregson, who is Seminoles project manager for the implementation, says that Allegro was selected after an exhaustive software selection process. Allegro Development personnel were very responsive and professional in their approach. Their software provides extremely powerful and customizable views for data management, making it easy to use. Implementing this system will provide improved controls and reporting and help us make the best decisions."
Allegro Development welcomes Seminole Electric Cooperative to its growing number of users," said Mr. Fasih Hussain, Director of Operations, Utilities & Trading, Allegro Development. The flexibility afforded by Allegro Developments industry-leading architecture and functionality provides our users with a robust, scalable and flexible platform on which to conduct their business to deliver tangible business benefits."
