The five-piece Jersey City, NJ female-fronted hard rock band, Smear-Campaign (http://www.smear-campaign.com), releases their new full-length album entitled ORANGE HILL produced by former Spin Doctor guitarist Anthony Krizan. Smear Campaign signs on with The Planetary Group, an established Boston-based radio promotion company, for a regional college radio campaign.

Jersey City, NJ (PRWEB) August 5, 2004 -- The five-piece Jersey City female-fronted hard rock band, Smear-Campaign (www.smear-campaign.com), releases their new full-length album entitled ORANGE HILL.

Smear-Campaign, recorded their new CD at Sonic Boom Studios with producer Anthony Krizan, formerly of the Spin Doctors and songwriter to Lenny Kravitz. The band will follow the release with local/regional gigs. Smear Campaign is also pleased to announce a college radio promotion venture with The Planetary Group, a Boston-based radio promotion company. The band feels very privileged to be working with The Planetary Group whose past clients include David Bowie, The Foo Fighters, and Ben Folds Five.

Formed in late 2001, Smear Campaign has been performing at notable NYC venues including CBGB, Mercury Lounge, Downtime, and Don Hill's. Songs from Orange Hill have already topped music sites reaching #1 in the Hard Rock Category on Broadjam.com and ranking in the Top 5 Hard Rock category on Garageband.com. Descriptions such as "great instrumentation, awesome bass tone, and nice use of inharmonic minors on vocal", "effective vocal/instrumentation" and "nice intriguing vocals, good contrast and dynamics..reminded me of 'Faith No More' with a female vocal" have been used by Broadjam.com listeners. The album features Smear-Campaign's lead singer, Maria Aggabao, who delivers an explosive yet sultry vocal style, coupled with the showcasing of Danny Murphy's intricate heavy and bluesy-sounding guitar work. The band's rhythm section is intense and features drummer Steve Dorlen and bassist Craig Franklin. Mike Ferguson adds that slight touch of a Goth and electronica sound with the keyboards. Lead singer, Aggabao, describes the songs on their first release as love songs --songs about finding the one you love, hating them, and then loving them all over again."
