Bush Critics Revisit Vietnam

(PRWEB) August 6, 2004 -- Many opponents of President George W. Bush have dubbed the war in Iraq as Bushs Vietnam." The fairness of this statement is obviously dependent on where you sit politically. However, because it is an election year, it is one of many issues being examined in the race for the Presidency. Those who oppose President Bush criticize the war in Iraq on many different levels, including the accusation of an unnecessary loss of lives, and the difficulties foreseen in pulling out of Iraq. Yet, President Bushs supporters see the war as a huge success because a tyrant was deposed and the world was made a safer place. Its difficult to sort through all of the politics surrounding the war in Iraq, just as it must have been during the Vietnam War. Author Danny M. Francis is a politically active Vietnam Vet who shares his own perspective on the Vietnam War in his new book, titled Last Ride Home -- A Memoir of the Vietnam War.

Mr. Francis served for twenty years in the United States Marine Corps. His Marine Corps service included two years of combat duty in Vietnam with the Second Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment and the First Battalion, 7th Marines (second tour). He pulls his readers into combat and permits us to experience war through his eyes. Captain Dale Dye, USMC (Ret.), and renowned Hollywood film advisor, says the following: This story will touch every American who reads it. Its poignant, well-written and conveys the feel of sweat, fear, and frustration that is common to all wars. Dan Francis has written an uncommon work that deserves attention. This is a story that needs to be told now, as our nation undergoes yet another trial by fire."

If it is possible for our country to learn from past mistakes, then this book illuminates, from the authors perspective, what some of those mistakes were. It is a worthwhile topic and one that many will benefit from reading about. Dan Francis desired to leave a legacy for the families of the Marines who were Killed in Action in Vietnam, and this noble inspiration has produced an exceptional work. Last Ride Home is published by American Book Publishing and available to order at stores near you.
