New Business Chaplain Cares for Mobile, Alabama Workforce

Steve Durkac is an ordained minister with a heart for Mobile, Alabama's workforce. Steve has set out on a new journey of providing employee chaplaincy care services and stress management training.

(PRWEB) August 6, 2004 -- He is an ordained minister with a flock of physicians, laborers, retail clerks, executives, and employees from a diversity of professions. However, you won't find his sheep sitting in the pews of a steeple crowned church on Sunday morning. You will find them at their office, factory, store, and workplace.

Steve Durkac is a new breed of independent Business Chaplains who are building their own chaplaincy care ministry for the workers of their home town. For the companies of the greater Mobile, Alabama area, Rev. Steve Durkac provides non-denominational voluntary use chaplain care services to those who freely wish to call on him.

Each week Steve makes his rounds and visits the workplaces that have signed up for his unique business chaplaincy services. Steve calls it a "ministry of availability." He likens what he does for the workplace unto what a hospital chaplain does for the medical facility. "The majority of employees just like knowing I'm available to them and their family when a pastoral need arises" says Steve.

There is a large percentage of employees who do not have a regular church or faith affiliation and Steve says these are the people who he helps most. Although, he stated, "Even good church attendees regularly call on me for guidance that they do not want their pastors to know about."

Business owners appreciate Steve's services as a proactive measure against workplace stress. The economy and financial concerns of an employee can weigh on their productivity and performance. Divorce, illnesses, and problems at home can impact the bottom line by increasing health care costs, employee turnover, and absenteeism.

Steve Durkac's role as a chaplain is often expanded to include stress management training and coaching for the workforce. He offers a website at http://www.durkac.com which provides information regarding his chaplaincy, coaching, and speaking services.
