Voices of Christ launches online prison poetry ministry

In collaboration with Pastor Lloyd Thomas, founder of Cross Road Ministries International of Abbeville, South Carolina, the Voices of Christ Prophetic Poetry Team (VOC) has launched an online prison poetry ministry entitled, Without Walls: Poetic voices from inside America's prisons.

(PRWEB) August 7, 2004 -- In collaboration with Pastor Lloyd Thomas, founder of Cross Road Ministries International of Abbeville, South Carolina, the Voices of Christ Prophetic Poetry Team (VOC) has launched an online prison poetry ministry entitled, Without Walls: Poetic voices from inside America's prisons.

Without Walls provides a forum for incarcerated men and women to not only share their poetic writing gifts with others, but to share their love for Jesus Christ and poetic testimonies with others.

"The poetry on this site shows us that we are only limited by our minds," said VOC Founder Theresa H. Johnson. "Some might say this is easy for me to say, but I personally know that this is true. Sometimes we live each day based on what we can see, touch, taste, smell, or hear -- allowing our senses to lead and guide us. But in the kingdom of God we are guided by his spirit and inspired by faith.

"In this place, there are no limits to what we can do."

VOC is an online Christian, prophetic poetry ministry dedicated to saving souls for Jesus Christ through the poetry and spoken word. The team is also dedicated to mentoring and nurturing the creative writing gifts of Christians.

Pastor Thomas, who is also a published poet, has been ministering the word of the Lord in prisons in South Carolina for many years. Through his ministry, he has met many men and women who write poetry inspired by God. Now, these poets have a place to share their gifts with the world.

"Although Without Walls was created for the prison ministry God has placed in the heart of Pastor Thomas, we also accept Christian poetry submissons from those incarcerated in other prisons as well," said Johnson.

Poets can submit up to three poems and artwork. They should include their name, a valid mailing address, prison ID number, and name of prison in their submission, and mail this information to: Voices of Christ, C/o Without Walls, PO Box 2437, McDonough, Georgia 30252.
