Victoria, B.C., Canada (PRWEB) August 14, 2004 -- ViagenX Biotech introduces VANGUARD Tissue Collection Kits to help overcome the challenges of collecting tissue samples under field conditions or in a laboratory environment. VANGUARD kits are designed to facilitate the preservation of high-quality genetic material within small amounts of tissue that can be readily applied to downstream analyses.

VANGUARD is a mechanism for isolating tissues in a way that is not detrimental to the animal. Examination of the extracted RNA from these samples provides a rapid means to determine what the animal has been exposed to," said Dr. Caren Helbing, president of ViagenX Biotech.

Using a minimally invasive biopsy method, the researcher can effectively collect membranous tissue samples from any species of interest. After the biopsy sampling procedure, VANGUARD preserves the collected tissue with the RNA stabilizing solution, RNAlater® (Ambion Inc). This facilitates the preservation and transport of valuable RNA contained within the tissue; maintaining its integrity until further processing in the lab.
