Opera meets Broadway
Porgy & Bess®, The Lion King sm, and Beauty and the Beast sm will meet to bring musical magic to life, during an enchanting evening, on a brilliant stage, by a cast of dazzling musicians, for a lucky audience, in a benefit concert performance.
(PRWEB) August 14, 2004 -- Hundreds of music lovers will fill the halls of The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center on Sunday, September 26, 2004, to witness an amazing fusion of music...classical and theatre, during an unprecedented benefit performance, sponsored by the parents and friends of the George E. Peters Adventist School. Baritone Alvy Powell, Soprano Kishna Davis and Tenor John LaSane will join, as headliners in this benefit performance, entitled Opera Meets Broadway.
The trio of talented musicians, supported by a full orchestra will perform under the baton of The Ray Charles Distinguished Chair, Jeremy Winston of Wilberforce University, as he directs them in The Gershwins®, Porgy and Bess, by George Gershwin, Dubose and Dorothy Heyward, and Ira Gershwin, at the Dekelboum Concert Hall, University of Maryland, College Park, MD, at 6:00pm.
The concert will also feature music from The Lion Kingsm and Beauty and the Beastsm. It is an exciting way to introduce children to opera, while they also delight to the familiar songs.
