Box Office Productions LLC, in association with Alpine Pictures, Inc has signed contracts with Lizzy Caplan to star in the teen thriller Love Is the Drug, written by A-list thriller maven Wesley Strick and directed by Elliot Lester.

Ryan Carroll, CEO of Alpine Pictures, Inc stated, “For the critical lead role of Sara we were searching for a young bright talent, that will provide us with a strong quality performance, while appealing to the youth market, which Lizzy has proven she can in Mean Girls.”

Actress Lizzy Caplan crashed onto the scene just five years ago, landing the coveted reoccurring role of Sara in the teen angst TV series FREAKS & GEEKS, which quickly lead to a number of roles and appearances on the small screen in numerous critically acclaimed television series including: the pilot episode of UNDECLARED, ONCE AND AGAIN and a reoccurring part on the WB’s hit show SMALLVILLE.

These guest appearances led to starring roles in: the TV movie about abstinence in high school called EVERYBODY’S DOING IT, was a guest on THE SHARON OSBOURNE SHOW, played Faith Pitts in the series THE PITTS and starred with Gabrielle Union in last pilot season’s CLOSE TO HOME.

Caplan made her big screen debut in the feature film ORANGE COUNTY starring Colin Hanks, Jack Black and Lily Tomlin, then starred in the short comedy film HARDCORE ACTION NEWS before her recent 2004 teen summer box office sleeper hit film MEAN GIRLS as Janis Ian across from Lindsey Lohan and Tina Fey.

API and BOP are thrilled to welcome this quickly rising young actress Lizzy Caplan to their “LOVE IS THE DRUG” team, a constantly growing list of experienced professionals, as they venture into the final stages of pre-production.
