Calfornia Bookstores Offer Armchair Adventure

California author presents writing workshops and reveals animal secrets to southern California residents.

(PRWEB) August 17, 2004 -- Residents and visitors are invited to meet California author and mountain muse, Diana L. Guerrero. Guerrero will be signing her newest book and chatting about animals from 7pm until 8pm on August 26, 2004 at the Redlands Barnes & Noble. On August 28, 2004 from 10am until Noon, the California Writers Club will host Guerrero at an interactive workshop on the secrets of successful book sales at Borders Books in Montclair.

Guerrero, an animal behaviorist and professional writer, has been a resident of the San Bernardino mountains for many years. She is the founder and facilitator of the Alliance of Writers, a mixed genre writing group, and conducts animal behavior classes and writing workshops throughout the southern California region. Her recently released book, "What Animals Can Teach us about Spirituality" contains many local stories of interest to southern California residents. The word of mouth following has catapulted the book into a second printing within seven months of release.

"What Animals Can Teach Us about Spirituality: Inspiring Lessons from Wild and Tame Creatures," is an armchair safari that takes you on an animal adventure with intriguing stories of animals, the human-animal bond, and the secrets of animal personality, and includes practical steps for any reader to implement. Guerrero is currently working on another project due for release in 2006.

The scribe is known throughout the writing world as the founder of the Alliance of Writers, a mixed genre writing group formed in 2000. Guerrero said, The group started out as a way for me to get out of the house and meet other writers. The group met weekly from January through mid-November and soon one chapter grew to two. Guest authors and speakers presented mini-seminars twice a month until 2004 when I began hosting writing workshops and writing teleseminars. The group no longer meets weekly and more writers can participate in the workshops and telesminars without regard to their location."

The Alliance of Writers has achieved national recognition through the works of other distinguished writers. Judy Reeves, a prolific writer and author now living in Spain, includes details about the successful group in her book, "Writing Alone, Writing Together."

Past events hosted by the Alliance include a literary tea with best-selling author Steve Hodel ("The Black Dahlia Avenger"), a magazine writing workshop, and a fiction writing workshop. The upcoming Montclair event for the California Writers Club, a state-wide organization with fourteen chapters, is titled Cover Your Ass-ets." Upcoming fall workshops include Meet Your Muse" and What Authors Need to Know: Literary Legal Essentials."
