Author Launches "A Cause to Read" -- Nationwide Charitable Campaign

M. Romero, author of "Caleng and the Moonstone Pearl," is embarking upon a nationwide charity effort. "A Cause to Read" will not only promote childhood literacy, but will raise money for several worthwhile charities in the process.

St. Louis, MO (PRWEB) August 18, 2004 -- M. Romero, author of "Caleng and the Moonstone Pearl," is embarking upon a nationwide charity effort. "A Cause to Read" will not only promote childhood literacy, but will raise money for several worthwhile charities in the process.

Romero's real life story is nearly as fantastic as the magical tale she tells in "Caleng and the Moonstone Pearl." Critics across America have hailed the childrens novel; her first published work as "... one of the most engaging works of children's literature in years." "Caleng" has created a sensational buzz and has been recognized by Academy Award winning director, Peter Jackson. Romero's fans have compared the novel to the revival of Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings" trilogy, and have embraced the fantasy tale.

"Children are our future," says Maria. "I consider "A Cause to Read" an investment in that future." Romero has been primarily making appearances at book signings in the St. Louis area, but her growing fan base has encouraged her to branch out. "When I began my charity selection process in search of one charity to whom to donate proceeds," Romero explains, "the idea grew. After speaking with a number of charity representatives I came to the realization that many children's organizations are in dire need."

"This is a no-fuss fundraiser," she says. "For every book purchased, fifty per cent of the book's proceeds will go to a participating charity, chosen by the reader." Readers and fans can make their selection by visiting her website: http://www.mromero.com

The generous author believes that not only will readers enjoy becoming a part of the world of "Caleng and the Moonstone Pearl," but through purchasing copies of the book, they will be raising funding and awareness of a number of worthy charities.

What Readers have to say about Caleng and the Moonstone Pearl:
Harriet Klausner, Amazon.coms #1 reviewer - On the surface this youthful epic fantasy is clearly aimed at a young audience but adults will also appreciate the powerful tale that contains several moral points imbedded brilliantly into Caleng's adventure.

Tyrone Vincent Banks, author - I read this book in 3 evenings and I was amazed by the craftsmanship and ingenuity displayed by the author Maria Romero. She has the ability to take a story -- or fairy tale in this instance -- and add a sense of realism that creates an image in your minds eye". This image will continue to entertain and amuse you long after you have closed the book. As I read and visualized the story, the entire plot played out like a fantasy epic with a very high budget. This book enters the fantasy genre and competes against authors like Rowling and Tolkien with an amazing tenacity that will earn it a spot on your bookshelf."

Juanita Reynolds, nurse and grandmother - Caleng and the Moonstone Pearl is a magnificent read, well written from beginning to end. It also has a flavor of The Never Ending Story, The Wizard of Oz, and Harry Potter" as well as many other favorites. If this book were a movie, it would definitely be a part of my video library for my personal enjoyment, as well as to entertain my grandchildren repeatedly."

Detra Fitch of Huntress Reviews This is an astounding story full of magical duels, witches, wizards, faeries, dragons, minotaurs, and more! It reminded me much of the book/movie "The Never Ending Story". If Harry Potter had been a faerie, instead of a wizard, I believe this is what his tale would have been like. Fast paced, exciting, and just plain fun! P.S. - I would like to own a "never, ever empty cup"."
