Flatster.net, New Online Apartment and Tenant Locator Offers Free, Advanced Searching and Posting Capabilities

Flatster is the first-ever online apartment renting site to feature user-supplied content about available apartments and tenants. From the creators of Roomster.net, the profile-driven roommate matching site, Flatster offers free searching and posting capabilities for both apartment seekers and owners through two exclusive services, Tenant Match and Apartment Wanted Ads.

Launched in June 2004 in beta, Flatster.net is the new online apartment renting site with user supplied content about available apartments and tenants. With advanced searching and posting capabilities such as Tenant Match and Apartment Wanted Ads, Flatster is the only apartment locator site that allows both apartment seekers and apartment owners to find each other through proactive searches and apartment wanted postings. Created by John S. Shriber and Roman Zaks, the founders of Roomster.net, Flatster lets users supply the information about apartments to facilitate the process of finding an apartment or a tenant. The available apartment listings on Flatster come from brokers, apartment locator services, property owners, individual rentals, landlords and apartment owners. All users communicate directly with each other via email.    All services on Flatster are free of charge and available across the United States.

While other rental sites serve only as bulletin boards with running lists of available apartments, Flatster has advanced functionality with two exclusive services. The first is Tenant Match, a unique search tool that allows users with apartments such as property owners, management companies, landlords, and brokers to be proactive in their search for a tenant.    Users looking for tenants can search the Apartment Wanted Ads by entering in criteria such as rent price, location and type of apartment for a list of exact matches. Advanced searches allow users to find close matches - tenants that are looking for a certain type of apartment in a certain zip code or radius.

The second offering is Apartment Wanted Ads, a feature for users looking for apartments. Apartment seekers can post an ad with information such as location, move-in date and price requirements as well as preferred amenities such as type of building (high rise or low rise), building specifics (doorman, elevator, walk-up, health club, laundromat, pool), parking (covered, garage, lot or street), pets (dogs, cats, all or none), and proximity to transportation (bus and subway) as well as security (electronic or system).    Extra text boxes allow for apartment seekers to list more pertinent information about their needs and preferences. In addition to improved searching and posting features, Flatster gives users the ability to manage their profiles where they can create, edit or delete information as well as the opportunity to Hot List - where users can tag apartments or tenants that they like for easy reference and future communication. Apartment profiles may include up to 12 photos, rent, size, number of bedrooms and bathrooms, square footage, lease terms and date of availability.

According to its co-founder, John S. Shriber, Chairman and CEO, "Apartment renting is not a one-way street. We know that looking for an apartment can be a difficult process but so is finding the right tenant. Until Flatster, there were no sites that addressed the needs of apartment seekers as well as apartment owners. We are the only online renting community that offers superior services to make this search an easy and effective one."

Entrepreneurs Shriber and Zaks launched Roomster.net, a subscription based roommate matching site with personality driven profiles, in November 2003. Since its launch, Roomster is active throughout the United States and across Canada.

Flatster.net and Roomster.net are services of Roomster Corp, a New York based start-up. Founded by entrepreneurs John S. Shriber and Roman Zaks, Roomster.net is a privately owned company staffed by a small team with offices in New York City. The Shriber and Zaks partnership has over a decade of experience managing and operating Internet companies in the relocation and lifestyle markets.
