Forget the Google IPO -- Get a free IPOD Instead

Want a piece of the Search Pie? Get a big one with new search engine FindIsland.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 23, 2004

New York, NY -- Disappointment may have surrounded Thursday's Google IPO, but there is still a way to get something out of the hot field of Search Engines and Internet Portals-even out of Google.

FindIsland, a new search engine whose results are powered search behemoth Google, is offering an IIO-an Initial IPOD Offering-to counter Googles IPO. Every time you search with FindIsland, you get another entry into an Aug. 31st raffle to win a hard-to-get Apple iPod Mini-in your choice of color.

FindIsland is the Search Engine that pays you back," says CEO Eli Feldblum. Search Engines already benefit so much from their users-in refining their technology, in ad revenue, and now in stock offerings-that we decided to give something back. And whats better than an iPod?"

FindIsland, which officially launched on Aug. 1, gives registered users an entry point, like a raffle ticket, for every search conducted from the sites main page. Those points can be automatically entered into monthly raffles for big ticket items, or users can decide how many points to contribute to each contest. User can also earn points by referring friends (a point for every four earned by referrals) and by participating in offers like eBay, AOL and Real Networks.

FindIsland will soon offer weekly and daily raffles as well. Weekly drawings will be for entertainment related prizes, like movie tickets which could be used to see blockbuster like Alien vs. Predator, Yu-Gi-Oh or Batman Begins, or music CDs by artists like Britney Spears, Usher, Ashlee Simpson and more. Daily prizes might include Gmail accounts or Mega Millions lottery tickets.

Were just trying to make Google-and searching the web in general-a better experience for people," says CTO Jeremy Braff.

And after todays IPO flop, that might be just what people need.
