Linotype font mix ideal for newspapers - Sabon Next takes on the press

For the first time on May 29, 2004, the widely circulated daily newspaper Frankfurter Neue Presse introduced a mix of Linotype fonts to improve its overall look and legibility.

Bad Homburg (PRWEB) August 22, 2004 -- For the first time on May 29, 2004, the widely circulated daily newspaper Frankfurter Neue Presse introduced a mix of Linotype fonts to improve its overall look and legibility: Sabon Next regular and bold for body copy and Bodoni Classico roman and bold for headlines. A relatively new member of the Linotype Platinum series, Sabon Next has made a name for itself as an excellent book typeface -- but now, for the first time, it is also successfully being implemented in commercial newspaper print as well, proving its broad flexibility and diverse range of applications. Since the Frankfurter Neue Presse was already quite pleased with the Linotype fonts Vectora and PMN Caecilia it uses for event listings, when the time came to refresh the look of the rest of the paper, it turned to Linotype for advice. Mr Otmar Hoefer, Director of Product Marketing at Linotype Library, came up with this original Linotype font mix and developed the solution together with Barbara Bank, Director of Design at the Frankfurter Neue Presse (FNP). An idea which has proven ideal. And over 400,000 readers agree: Sabon Next has helped make the overall appearance of the Frankfurter Neue Presse considerably lighter and much easier to read. Another example of how Linotype is shaping the way the world reads.
