Located in Jaco, Costa Rica, with easy access to some of the best surf breaks on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica, Vista Guapa is designed to be a magical experience for surfers of all skill levels as well as for their non-surfing friends. Alvaro Solano, the four-time consecutive surfing champion of Costa Rica, runs the camp with his wife (Joice) and son (Noe) very much like a bed and breakfast, making every guest feel like part of the family. Alvaro, who won his 7th national title in June, works alongside the guests either as a guide for advanced surfers to the best surf breaks in the surrounding area or as a surf instructor for beginners. Joice helps guests to coordinate other activities and gets every day off to a flying start with her famous home-cooked breakfasts and savory Costa Rican coffee.

Vista Guapa offers deluxe lodging in three beautiful, air-conditioned bungalows, each with ocean views and private baths, provides breakfast and dinner daily, and transports guests to and from the best surf breaks each day in the morning and evenings. Surf lessons are offered once a day for up to three hours, timed according to the daily tides and weather conditions. Vista Guapa just recently purchased a small boat to transport surfers to some of the lesser known, harder to access surf breaks in the area, including the renowned Secret Spot" in nearby Punta Caldera. In addition, the resort offers free shuttle service on Saturdays to and from the international airport in San Jose.

The team at Vista Guapa is always happy to help in organizing day excursions to local national parks, canopy tours, mountain bike trails, fishing trips, kayaking or other entertainment through our partnerships with local tour companies. Many guests prefer to relax in one of the many hammocks around the camp or indulge in an in-room massage or other spa service.

The camp is located on five acres of beautifully landscaped hillside. Other amenities include a pool, rental bikes to ride into town, satellite TV, Internet access and a luscious garden filled with local flowers and fruit trees (which provide an important part of the morning meals)! There is also a Yoga platform where one can practice alone or partake in a class by visiting Yoga instructors. Vista Guapa is also the perfect spot for Yoga retreats.

We are happy to work with groups to build package trips for Surfing or Surfing & Yoga. We can hold up to 12-15 visitors at one time. We welcome men, women, singles, couples, families and groups with open arms. We can teach surfing to children or adults of any age, assuming they can swim comfortably in open water, but we ask that all children under the age of 16 are accompanied by an adult.
